More than 800 Thompson friction welding machines are in use around the world by top OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers including models specially designed for not only joining truck axles, drill pipes and rods but also hydraulic cylinders and piston rods. Thompson customers recognise that friction welding is a repeatable, accurate solid state process with no liquid phase during the weld cycle, meaning many bi-metal joints can be made.
Thompson machines are designed and manufactured at a modern facility based in the West Midlands, UK, which also includes a sub contract friction welding operation, widely regarded as one of the largest in Europe.
Services covering after-sales technical support, machine maintenance, equipment spares and operator training courses are offered by an experienced and knowledgeable team. In addition, a variety of used Thompson machines are periodically available for refurbishment.
